Opera Partners Safello To Allow In-browser Crypto Purchases For Scandinavians
Web browser maker Opera Software AS is partnering European crypto exchange Safello to enable in-browser purchases of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin on the Opera web-browser for android for users in the Scandinavia countries of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
Safello’s brokerage solution is being integrated with Opera’s blockchain-powered browser for Android to drive wider adoption of cryptocurrencies. This will allow users in the Scandinavia countries to top up their wallets to buy Ethereum on their mobile phones.
Safello said users’ identities will be verified securely and seamlessly with BankID in Norway and NemID in Denmark.
The new feature will be available only on “Opera browser beta” downloaded from Google Play store in Sweden, Norway and Denmark only.
Safello said the purchase of crypto on the Opera mobile browser for Android can be done in less than 60 seconds. Users can pay with credit and debit cards, and transfers over trusted local payment networks, such as Swish in Sweden.
Safello operates a Bitcoin exchange and related services in the European market. Founded in 2013, Safello is regulated as a financial institution and registered with the Financial Supervisory Authority of Sweden.
The Norwegian browser maker has continued its tryst with cryptocurrencies after becoming the first major browser to carry a built-in crypto wallet in July. It will spare internet users the trouble of installing separate Dapp browsers or crypto wallet extensions.
In November 2018, Opera had announced a partnership with the leading strategic blockchain advisory and financial services firm, Ledger Capital, to work on the potential of the blockchain ecosystem.
