Coronavirus LIVE updates: Brits trapped in Tenerife have flight DELAYED until next month – latest news

LAST night, Northern Ireland confirmed their first case of coronavirus bringing the UK total to sixteen.

Meanwhile, Brits trapped in the quarantined hotel hotel in Tenerife have had their Jet2 flight delayed until March 10.

Several other countries including Nigeria and New Zealand have also confirmed their first case of Covid-19 as the deadly virus continues to spread across the world.

  • LONDON MARATHON ORGANISERS 'CLOSELY MONITORING' CORONAVIRUS SITUATION

    Organisers of the London Marathon have announced they are “monitoring closely the developments relating to the spread of coronavirus”.

    They say they are closely following UK government health advice.

    It comes after the Tokyo marathon was cancelled amid the outbreak, and professor Chris Whitty – England's chief medical officer warned sporting events could be cancelled.

  • PASSENGERS FROM CORONAVIRUS HOTSPOT LAND AT HEATHROW WITH NO CHECKS

    A GMB reporter filmed himself arriving at Heathrow along with other travellers from from virus-hit Italy.

    The Milan flight landed without any health screening for coronavirus.

    Nick Dixon, a Good Morning Britain correspondent, had returned to the UK after reporting on the deadly virus, which has rampaged through northern Italy, killing 17 people and infecting around 650.

    Around 50,000 residents in 11 Italian towns in the north are under lockdown and unable to leave a cordoned section of the country before March 6.

    More than 80,000 people in almost 50 countries have been infected with the virus, which has killed around 2,800 victims, the vast majority in China's Hubei province.

    But despite Italy being at the epicentre of Europe's growing coronavirus crisis, Heathrow staff at Terminal didn't check passengers coming back from the region last night, GMB's Mr Dixon reported.

    Coronavirus has “pandemic potential,” the head of the World Health Organisation says.

    Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus added the outbreak was at a “decisive point”.

    It comes after the global spread intensified following huge outbreaks in Iran and Italy with travellers spreading the bug around the globe.
