Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for this year?
It’s that time of the year once again when we reflect on our triumphs throughout the year and what we’re grateful for. Thanksgiving is upon us, and in a year that saw COVID-19 continuing to upend lives around the world, there’s even more to be thankful for. For those of us in the Bitcoin SV ecosystem, the year has been one to behold and has proven, now more than ever, that BSV is unstoppable.
This year, the level of progress in BSV, both by developers building applications and users adopting them, has been breathtaking. Decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have taken root this year with an explosion in not just the number of platforms but their users. NFTs, especially, have become quite popular, with some like SLictionary’s coming with a unique twist.
Tokenized, Sigil Token Protocol, Simple Fabriik Protocol, RUN, Sensible Contract, Elas Digital and more have all shown this year that tokenization on BSV is the future, and proven that Bitcoin is superior to the other networks that have for too long been touted as the leaders in this field.
Despite the disruption that the pandemic has caused, the year also saw two of the biggest Bitcoin events take place in Europe and the United States. The first was CoinGeek Zurich in June that saw over 110 speakers take to the stage and garnered over 4 million views. CoinGeek New York took place in October, and despite the city being one of the most locked down by the pandemic, it came out as big a success. Several other smaller events took place, from meetups in the U.S., Australia, and the U.K. to developer conferences in China and beyond.
While there have been several new applications and hordes of new users this year, and two successful CoinGeek Conferences, arguably the biggest event this year has been the trial of the century—Kleiman v Wright.
The trial has brought the eyes of the entire digital currency community to Florida as Dr. Craig Wright battles with Ira Kleiman, the brother of Craig’s deceased friend David. It has been a time of reckoning for the anti-Craig cartel. Despite thinly-veiled attempts to deny the obvious truth (including revising media articles to accusing Craig of buying Satoshi keys), the world is finally waking up to the truth that the BSV ecosystem has known for years—Craig is Satoshi Nakamoto.
The BSV ecosystem certainly has a lot to be thankful for this year as it’s finally getting the vindication it’s been denied since 2018. And if 2021 was anything to go by, then 2022 will be one for the history books.
As you reunite with your family and friends, and feast on pumpkin pie and the ceremonial turkey, remember to take a moment to be grateful for the year you have had and let those who have meant a lot to you this year know it.
Happy Thanksgiving from CoinGeek!
