Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff Deliver Valentine’s Day Cookies to Essential Healthcare Workers

In honor of Valentine’s Day weekend, Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff paid a special visit to essential healthcare workers in Washington D.C.

As reported by People, Harris and Emhoff visited the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Center. The couple delivered baskets of cookies to essential workers, along with notes which read, “Have a sweet Valentine’s Day! We appreciate you. Kamala & Doug.”

The Vice President and her husband were joined by Denis McDonough, who has recently been confirmed as the new VA secretary. Per People, McDonough and his wife “provided coffee” for the doctors, nurses, and essential healthcare workers to have with their cookies.

Emhoff shared a photo from the visit on Instagram and revealed, “This Valentine’s Day weekend, our hearts are with the health care heroes working around-the-clock to support our country during this difficult time.”

Emhoff continued, “I’m so glad Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough and Kari McDonough could join us as we thanked the hardworking staff at the DC VA Medical Center.”

Last month, Harris and Emhoff appeared on CBS Sunday Morning and opened up about meeting on a blind date. When Harris was asked if she’d Googled her future husband before meeting him, the Vice President replied, “I’ve never been asked that! I did! … So, yes, my best friend set us up on a blind date and she said, ‘Just trust me, just trust me.’ … She wanted me to just kind of go into it, and she said, ‘Don’t Google him.’ I did.”
