Bonfire Night weather perfect for fireworks before heavy rain hits this week – see if YOU will get wet with our UK forecast maps

SPARKLING weather is forecast for Bonfire Night this evening as most of Britain stays clear and dry – before heavy downpours wash out large areas of the UK later this week.

The Met Office is forecasting fairly warm temperatures as wet and windy weather will sweep in with low pressure from the West from Wednesday.

But tonight's weather should be perfect for firework displays and bonfires as cloudless skies and a starry night cover most of the country.

Luke Miall at the Met Office said: "There’ll be a little bit of rain across parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland through this evening, so people going out to celebrate Bonfire Night there might need their coats.

"But for the rest of the country it’s clear spells – there’s some cloud around and there could be mist and fog patches in places, but it’ll be mild for all of us."

"It’s not too windy, not too cold and not too wet – so not a bad one really!"

But after Bonfire Night fizzles out, a more unsettled week is on the way for much of the country.

Many areas will start off dry on Tuesday, particularly those in the East, while strong winds whip the Western coast in the afternoon where wet weather will wash through South West England and Wales in the evening.

Luke said: "There's no warnings for the rain at this stage, but there is the potential for some sort of impact from surface water flooding on the roads."

The South East corner will actually be unseasonably warm on Tuesday, with highs of 18C expected in some places.

But then Wednesday will be a wet and windy day for much of the UK as those spells of heavier rain in the West move eastwards.

Downpours are forecast for West Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the North of England on Wednesday, with 20-30mm of isolated rain expected.

And between Tuesday and Friday, up to half-a-month's worth of rain could fall in some regions.

Thursday will be a chilly start, with a touch of frost possible, before more wet and windy weather pushes in through most places – but temperatures should still remain mild at around 16C.

And then Friday will see even more deluges and even strong-to-gale-force winds as a large area of low pressure swings in from the West.

For those heading outdoors this Remembrance Sunday, you're advised to take a brollie with you.

Luke explained: "At this stage, the weather’s not looking particularly great, but it’s still a long way off yet, so the advice is to stay up to date and check back in with us later in the week as we get a bit more confidence on exactly what we’re going to be seeing"
