Boy, 12, stabbed to death in neck, chest and stomach as teen, 14, charged with murder
A LAD of 12 allegedly murdered by his school pal was stabbed in the neck, chest and stomach, an inquest heard today.
Roberts Buncis was found on a small green close to his quiet village home in Lincolnshire last month just hours before his 13th birthday.
A 14-year-old boy arrested following the death has been charged with murder, while two other teenagers were also arrested but they have since been released.
An inquest heard when emergency services were called to the scene in Boston they mistook the victim as being a 30-year-old man.
The hearing, in Lincoln, said a post mortem had provisionally given the cause of death as "stab wounds to neck, chest and abdomen".
Det Insp Andy McWatt, said: "Police were called to Alcorn Green at 10.22 am following reports of a male being found dead in a wooded area behind that green."
He said paramedics attended the scene on December 12 and the deceased was initially believed to have been a 30-year-old man and the police investigation continues.
Coroner's officer Darren Sear said that Roberts was formally identified by his dad Edgars Buncis.
The schoolboy, born in Liepaja, Latvia, was found dead in the village of Fishtoft.
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with Roberts' murder and remanded in custody.
A 13-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation.
A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action.
Mr Buncis urged mourners to remember the 12-year-old with "flowers and a smile" and "not to judge".
"Do not judge before we know the truth, let the police do their investigation," he said.
"I do not judge the family of the boy involved, I am not God, for this we have court.
"Please remember Roberts with flowers and a smile," he said.
"Be safe and please do not do anything stupid. I want you to continue with your lives and do the things that Roberts can no longer do.
"I do not want any other family to go through what I have, please do not make me more sad," he said.
Coroner Paul Smith, who opened and adjourned the inquest, said: "The matter will be resumed following the conclusion of ongoing criminal processes."
