Deep in the jungle, Michael Heseltine's Remaniacs are still plotting against Boris Johnson
SO now we know.
Thanks to Euro-fanatic Michael Heseltine, we can see why the BBC and every left-wing media organisation in the land is out to torpedo Boris Johnson.
Hezza wants this Prime Minister dumped and his 80-seat majority — won by delivering Brexit — used to reverse the historic 2016 referendum.
In an astonishing series of radio interviews, his blinkered lordship blurted out a Remainer plot to take Britain back into the European Union by any means possible.
He told Times Radio on Thursday: “What happens if Boris goes, does Brexit go . . . throw the whole thing up in the air?
“Public opinion polls are showing quite clearly that the public realise now that they were conned.
“They were told a pack of lies about the advantages of Brexit and the Government is not going to be able to deliver what they promised.”
So the drive to ditch this PM is not simply because he spent 25 minutes thanking Downing Street staff for working 11-hour days to beat Covid.

Nor is it because he enraged voters of all parties that were dutifully obeying the lockdown rules he, as Prime Minister, had just imposed.
Those images of wine and sausage rolls were offensive to millions and Boris was rightly forced to make a humiliating public apology.
He is still not off the hook as Whitehall mandarin Sue Gray decides whether or not he also misled Parliament — a potential resignation issue.
But even BoJo’s most ferocious critics will surely have wondered why the BBC and Sky have spent every minute of air time since this story broke asking the same question: “Why won’t he resign?”
Other major global issues such as the looming invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops — a possible trigger for European war — are pushed to one side in the demented mission to “get Boris”.
Now, thanks to the man nicknamed Tarzan in the 1970s, after breaking Parliamentary rules and seizing the Commons ceremonial mace, we know why.
He and an army of loud-voiced, unelected, pro-EU peers want to rerun 2016 all over again.
They would be backed by a battalion of disgruntled Tory MPs who have never forgiven Boris for winning outright power in 2019 on the back of the biggest show of democracy ever in the UK.
And they would be supported by both Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party and the tragic remains of what used to be the Lib Dems.
DEMENTED MISSION
Remember it was the Lib Dem call for the referendum to be rerun that destroyed what once claimed to be a party of coalition government.
Nor is this a new threat to Brexit.
Tory rebels have been plotting at secret Commons gatherings in private rooms to knife Boris.
This is no idle threat by resentful political misfits, although that aptly describes Hezza’s fellow fanatic, Labour Lord Adonis.
“If Boris goes, Brexit goes,” smirked Adonis this week. “You never know how quickly things can change.”
The campaign to reverse Brexit has never stopped.
It is the fixed view of the Whitehall civil service estab- lishment, the unelected quangos and charities such as the sinister and shadowy Common Purpose, who form an unofficial branch of the We Know Best brigade.
And it is the BBC, the biggest news outlet in the country by far, with its incessant drumbeat of anti-Tory coverage, which is acting as tribune for Remain.
Now with Boris on the ropes — largely through his own carelessness — they are determined to seize their chance.
What is astonishing is the way Remainers are rewriting history, accusing the Leave campaign of telling lies and cheating on spending rules.
But what about the Remain campaign itself, supported by the publicly funded machinery of government plus favours from pro-EU supporters and from the EU itself?
VOTES OF CONFIDENCE
What about the use of a government servant, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney, who blatantly broke the rules of impartiality by publicly siding with Remain.
As for “lies”, how about Chancellor George Osborne’s despicable Project Fear campaign, backed by the supposedly non-political HM Treasury.
Or the arm-twisting of industrial giants such as Nissan, which twice threatened to up sticks and quit Britain — only to expand its operations and set up its electric car plant in the North East once Brexit was done.
Hezza sneers at Boris for failing to deliver his election promises.
But has he forgotten the decision by the global giant formerly known as Royal Dutch Shell to leave Holland and relocate to London?
And Unilever, one of the world’s biggest corporations, which followed suit and ditched the Dutch and returned to the UK.
These were massive votes of confidence in Brexit Britain — vindications of the decision by a clear majority for Brexit.
And with the EU itself in a whirl of back-biting self-destruction, the Great British public would vote exactly the same way again tomorrow.
