A man has been arrested after five people were killed instantly on Thursday in the deadliest crash in Victoria in 11 years, when a truck smashed into a car near the NSW border.
Police announced the death toll from the multi-vehicle crash at Strathmerton had risen from three to five at a press conference on Friday.

Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir told reporters a 29-year-old man from Melbourne’s east was pulled over for speeding before the incident.
