French cop arrested carrying explosives at packed Paris train station
A FRENCH policeman has been arrested in Paris after he was found to be carrying explosives while passing through a train station.
The 29-year-old was arrested at Paris Gare de Lyon station on December 23 and interrogated by French authorities for 96 hours.
The matter was then transferred to the prosecutor's office.
The unnamed man was placed under investigation and remanded in custody earlier today.
Local media reports the officer is specialised in handling explosives but his intentions remain vague at this point.
It is claimed that the man was stopped by a customs official at the train station, and when confronted it is claimed he became angry and defensive.

He remains under investigation for a number of offences including obstructing the duties of a customs officer and the transportation of explosive goods.
According to reports in Le Figaro, the suspect was a patrolling policeman from the district of Maisons-Alfort (Val-de-Marne) but had recently been deployed to Calais to join the teams of officers tasked with dispersing migrants.
