The 22-year-old striker took to Man City’s training session yesterday sporting his bold new braided barnet.

The Norwegian’s trim comes ahead of tonight’s Champion’s League clash with his former Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

But fans were quick to make nasty jabs at Haaland for his haircut, comparing him to the 20-year-old Swedish climate change activist, with one saying: ‘Greta, is that you?’

Norwegian superstar Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm since his £51million arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

He has netted a whopping 30 goals and earns close to £45million a year – making the young hotshot one of the world’s highest paid footballers.

In December, the star appeared at Man City training sporting pigtails, which fans said were showing off his Nordic roots.

One excitedly wrote: ‘Viking is back.’ While another posted on social media, saying: ‘Viking mode fully activated.’

Haaland was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, on July 21, 2000. His father, Alfie was a star player for Leeds United at the time.

He previously sported pigtails in December, with fans saying it harked back to his Nordic roots, with one saying: ‘Viking is back,’ while another added: ‘Viking mode fully activated.’ Haaland is pictured on Monday

Not long after Haaland was born, his father transferred to Man City for £2.5million.

But his career was cut short after three years following an horrific tackle by Manchester United captain Roy Keane.

After this, Haaland’s family moved back to Norway. His professional football career started at Byrne, the team representing the town where he grew up.

His talents were soon spotted by Molde, a team in the Norwegian top flight, who signed the striker.

Haaland later moved to Red Bull Salzburg and then to Dortmund.
