Horror as man in his 20s plunges ’39 floors’ to his death from Canary Wharf hotel – as police launch probe

A man has fallen to his death from the 39th floor of a tower block in the heart of London’s financial district.
The man, said to be aged 26, fell from the high-rise hotel building last night at around 10pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics rushed to the area and were seen gathering outside a Novotel in Marsh Wall in Canary Wharf, east London.
The death is being treated as unexplained, but is not thought to be suspicious, Scotland Yard said.
The circumstances are still being investigated by the Met Police’s criminal team.

Tower Hamlets Police said: ‘On Monday May 15, 2023 at about 10pm, police and LAS [London Ambulance Service] were prompted to a 26-year-old male who fell from the 39th floor of a building on Marsh Wall E14.
‘He was pronounced life extinct at the scene by LAS medics. The death is not being treated as suspicious, however the investigation is still ongoing by our colleagues from the criminal investigation department.’
A spokeswoman for the Met said: ‘Police were called at 10pm on Monday, May 15, following reports that a man had fallen from height at a hotel on Marsh Wall, E14.

‘Police and LAS attended. The man, aged in his 20s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.
‘Next of kin have been informed and a file will be passed to the coroner.’
A post-mortem will be carried out by a pathologist.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman added: ‘We were called at 9.59pm yesterday [May 15] to reports that a person had fallen from a building on Marsh Wall, E14.
‘We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene. Sadly, a person died at the scene.’
