Additionally, an extension to the farmhouse, on the outskirts of Glasgow, will be built to provide space for a media room, home cinema, an expanded master bedroom and a new kitchen.

Additional bedrooms will also be created in another set of stables, as well as a garage block.

The approved plans also highlight a glass-fronted, open-plan lounge and dining room, with one of the new blocks housing skylights and a zinc roof.

Planning documents said: ‘In light of the considerations noted above, it is considered that the proposed development will not result in any adverse impacts.

‘In addition, the proposal generally complies with the terms of the Local Development Plan and there are no material considerations that indicate otherwise.

‘The proposed external finishes albeit contemporary are considered to complement the character and setting of the traditional building. It is therefore recommended that the application is approved.’

Last summer, Capaldi transformed a spare room at his parents’ home in Bathgate, West Lothian, into a gym, purchasing a £1,895 exercise bike, kettlebells and squat rack to kit it out.

A planning document said that Capaldi’s plans would not have any ‘adverse impacts’ and that they complement the character and setting of the farmhouse

When the proposed plans have been completed, a brand new open-plan lounge and dining area will look similar to this, with a new kitchen also found at the far end of the room

Lewis was previously estimated to have a net worth of £7.8 million by Forbes, but the singer refuted the claim in an Instagram Story, in which he said he has ‘less than £200’ in his account.

Last year it was revealed that his company had raked in more than £600,000.

Accounts disclosed his earnings had rocketed after his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent sold more than one million copies worldwide and reached No1.

Capaldi set up his company, called Face Like Thunder Limited, in September, 2017, shortly after signing his first record deal.

It handles income from ‘sound recording and music publishing activities’.
