A father who was falsely accused of leading an Asian grooming gang by a rape fantasist has revealed the shocking allegations drove his son to self-harming.
Business owner Mohammed Ramzan, 43, from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, was just one of several men who were subject to horrific false claims made by 22-year-old Eleanor Williams.
Williams, who was found guilty of perverting the court of justice, was jailed for eight-and-a-half years last week after falsely claiming to have been the victim of an Asian grooming gang and making a series of false rape allegations in a Facebook post that included graphic images of injuries she claimed to have sustained.
Mr Ramzan and 22-year-old Jordan Trengrove, another innocent man who fell victim to the false claims, have both previously revealed they were driven to the brink of suicide.
And now, while being interviewed on 5 News, father-of-four Mr Ramzan – who also opened up on his own suicide attempts – has revealed that the pain has been shared through his family, including his son who he walked in on self-harming.
Mohammed Ramzan (pictured with wife Nicola Holt) has revealed that he walked in on his son self-harming following false accusation made against him by a rape fantasist who lied about being victim of Asian grooming gang

He told Dan Walker: ‘I found my son sliced his arms one of the days. It was half past one at night and I have gone to use the loo, his room’s next door, there’s lights on and I walked in, and you see your son and… because we were all keeping each other strong, but we weren’t exposing anything how it was affecting.’
He added: ‘I denied my family in the sense of not knowing what all the difficulties they were going through.

‘You know, my wife’s a very strong independent person and she was going with her friends and now she would go offload there not with me.
Mr Ramzan, who was falsely accused by Williams of grooming her from the age of 12, putting her to work in brothels in Amsterdam and trying to sell her, described how he didn’t really discuss the allegations with his sons, but insisted: ‘I’m taking them on we’re not running away’.
He added: ‘And there was a point of where everybody, my sons wanting to move out and I was like, “No, we’re not.”
‘And my son he turned around and goes “you know you Dad you’re known as a paedo. Everyone claims, everywhere on social media, my friends, this is a horrible town, why have you been moved us here?”
‘And then he felt the guilt that he was leaving and going… and that was my first attempt to suicide. I smashed a bottle of my head and tried to use the empty bottle to slice my neck in front of my children, my wife and Jonathan, my friend. And if he didn’t grab my hands, it would have been a different story possibly, I might not have been here.’
Mr Ramzan, who admitted he did not know how he and his family would recover from the ordeal at Williams’ sentencing, has concern for the damage the fantasist has done for real victims.
When quizzed on her conviction, he said: ‘I feel relieved with that. I’m happy about that.
‘But my concern is the damage she’s actually done for real victims… the rape cases are already so difficult to prove you know, and what has she actually done to sisterhood with the real victims, and the damage that she’s done to us and the rest of them?’
Mr Ramzan (pictured with family at Williams’ sentencing) also opened up on being driven to the brink of suicide and almost did so in front of his family
Williams had also given police an account of being taken to Blackpool, where she said Mr Ramzan threatened her and she was taken to different addresses and forced to have sex with men.
When police made inquiries, they found she had travelled to the seaside resort alone and stayed in a hotel, where she bought a Pot Noodle from a nearby shop and then remained in her room watching YouTube on her phone.
Mr Ramzan said the family would remain in Barrow but admitted he was concerned that far-Right supporters on social media were still insistent that Williams’s claims were true.
He and his family are now taking on a campaign to change the country’s social media laws, and are looking at setting up a foundation as they work to ‘move forward’.
Mr Ramzan also plans to sue police and the Home Office over the torment the investigation caused him.
