Powerful cross-party group formed to defend Britain from Russian cyber attacks
SENIOR Tory and Labour MPs have formed a powerful cross-party group to defend Britain from Russian propaganda and cyber-attacks, The Sun can reveal.
The bosses of the six most influential House of Commons select committees have vowed to begin coordinating their work for the first time ever to “counter malign Russian influence” on Britain.
The new Russian Coordination Group will be chaired by Foreign Affairs Committee boss Tom Tugendhat, who will be joined by Labour’s Home Affairs supremo Yvette Cooper.
And the powerful Treasury, Culture, Defence and Security chairs will also take part in the unprecedented joined up defence.
Mr Tugendhat told The Sun: “Russia’s coordinated campaigns have linked disinformation, corruption and military action.
