A seven-year-old boy was last night killed in a horrific hit-and-run as police launch a manhunt for the drover.
The youngster was left ‘dying in the middle of the road’ in Folkestone, Kent at around 5.35pm yesterday.
Emergency services raced to Sandgate Esplanade near the junction with Prospect Road, but despite efforts to save him the child died at the scene. His family have been told.
The driver of an unidentified van or car is being hunted by Kent Police after crashing with a red Citroen.

The high street was closed to allow police to carry out accident investigation work before reopening at around 7am today. Today, residents have spoken of their shock, with one local revealing: ‘We’re really shaken up by what we saw, we’ve hardly slept. It’s becoming more dangerous crossing that road and there are increasing numbers of people who need to cross it.’
Posting on Facebook, a woman – thought to be a family member of the boy – said: ‘There was a hit and run in Sandgate Esplanade. The driver killed a seven-year-old boy and left him dying in the middle of the road.
‘Anyone who has any CCTV footage of the local area please have a look. Any dashcams eyewitness or anyone with any information on the driver.
‘Please come forward and contact the police. Help us catch this killer, please share this everyone. Thank you so much.’

Officers have now issued an appeal to identify the driver. Anyone who witnessed the collision – or saw either the victim or vehicles involved in moments leading up to it – is urged to contact police.

The force has also asked drivers and local residents to check their dashcams or CCTV for any footage that may aid in the investigation.
