A promising young jockey hanged himself in a car wash after becoming anxious that his girlfriend might discover he had dated other girls.

The Snapchat clip showed blond-haired Mr Pitt in the car wash in Hungerford, Berkshire, shortly before his death, an inquest heard today (Thursday).

At today’s hearing, Mr Pitt’s devastated mother Amanda said that her son was a ‘loveable rogue’ but was worried about the future of his relationship.
She said: ‘Michael was 100 per cent about everything he did, including his feelings for girls.
‘He always had a playful side, if he had attention from other girls he could not walk away.
‘He would always end up in a mess, one girl would text the other girl. He would tell me, “S**t hit the fan mum, I have lost both of them.”
‘His feelings for Ellie were very different. He had messed around, I think he was terrified of her finding out.
‘Maybe it all came to a head that night… Watching the Snapchat video, I think that was his concern.’

In his final messages to his girlfriend Ellie, he wrote of his despair and then sent her the video – despite her pleas for him to calm down.
In the video, where he was visibly close to tears, Mr Pitt said: ‘I have never not loved you, just in case this actually goes through, I love you, I just can’t deal with it no more.’
His body was later found at the Co-op petrol station in Charnham Street, Hungerford, just before 7am in the morning.
The inquest at Reading heard that the cause of his death was confirmed as hanging.
It was also discovered that Michael had consumed almost three times the drink-drive limit of alcohol.

Reaching a verdict of suicide, assistant coroner Jenny Goldring said: ‘This is the tragic death of a beautiful young man who was much-loved, a young man who lived life to the full, was popular, a sociable friend and had a promising career ahead of him.
‘He formed the intent to take his own life albeit while he was under the heavy influence of alcohol.’
Mr Pitt’s former employer Warren Greatrex Racing Club told local media: ‘It’s an awful accident. He was a cracking lad and a really good young rider.
‘He was loved by everybody and this has hit us all hard. He was a stable lad for us who had just got his amateur licence, he rode very well and worked hard as well.
‘He’d been with us for about a year, he fitted in great and was a real cheeky chap. He always had a smile on his face and was very popular among staff.’
