Wimbledon has rebuffed cost-of-living hikes and frozen the price of strawberries and cream at £2.50 for a record 13th year in a row – but two glasses of Pimm’s will set fans back almost £20.
The price of the tennis championship’s favourite snack has not increased since 2010 – despite £2.50 then being worth £3.60 today, Bank of England inflation data shows. Fans will eat more than 190,000 portions – that’s 1.92 million berries weighing 38.4 tons, and 10,000 litres of cream.
The strawberries are picked fresh at Hugh Lowe Farms in Mereworth, Kent.

The price of the tennis championship’s favourite snack has not increased since 2010 – despite £2.50 then being worth £3.60 today
But drinks prices are steeper, with Pimm’s priced at £9.70 a glass – £2 more than at most pubs.
Ground passes are frozen at £27, while most tickets to the men’s and ladies’ singles finals are up by £15 on last year, at £255.
