UK weather – SNOW and -3C big freeze to hit TOMORROW – and icy Arctic blast will last until Sunday

BRITS are in for a bone-chilling freeze this week as temperatures get set to plummet below zero.

The mercury is predicted to dip as low as -3C on Friday with snow forecast from tomorrow.



The blistering temperatures, which are set to last until Sunday, are set to be coldest in Scotland – although things could drop well be below zero across parts of northern England.

According to maps by WXCharts, Scots could see 5cm of snow, along with flurries of the white stuff in northern England.

And the Arctic temperatures are expected to last until Sunday, as the cold spell moves in from the north west.

Met Office forecaster Clare Nasir, told The Mirror:"We could see some patchy rain and drizzle but notice this cold front marching its way towards the UK,.

"So through Thursday afternoon and evening time a couple of hours of heavy rain and stronger winds as it sinks down towards the south east.

"As the air turns colder the winds pick up and we will see some wintry showers particularly towards the north as well as the west."

The Met Office forecast for Friday until Sunday reads: "Friday cold with sunny spells and blustery showers, wintry in the north.

"Milder at the weekend, with periods of rain particularly across the northwest. Still some brightness for eastern areas."

It comes as the UK recovers from storms Malik and Corrie, as gusts of winds reached 92mph last weekend.

The storms left around 7,000 homes in northern England and 9,000 in Scotland without power as Gale force winds killed three people over the weekend.

Forecasters had issued yellow and amber warnings for high winds across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England throughout Saturday.

A nine-year-old boy was crushed to death by a falling tree in Staffordshire on Saturday as winds topped 90mph.

A woman, 60, was also killed after a tree was blown over during gale-force winds in Aberdeen, while a man, 32, died after a lorry overturned on the M74.
