The Victorian government has announced that a number of health rules to contain the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 will ease.
The measures come into effect at 6pm tomorrow.
The state government has been in talks with business groups about scrapping the recommendation to work from home in the hope of regenerating the CBD and sectors that rely on its vibrancy.
Health authorities will consider next week whether it’s appropriate to remove the recommendation to work from home.
Meanwhile, several other significant restrictions have been relaxed, including density limits and QR code check-ins.
Hospitality venues
Density quotients will be removed for hospitality venues, and dance floors will be allowed to reopen.
QR rules for retail, schools, and for workplaces have been scrapped. However, they will remain in place for restaurants.
Masks
Indoor mask rules will remain in place in Victoria for some weeks. Premier Daniel Andrews said, depending on data, further announcements about mask rules and return to work advice will be made next Friday.
