Who are Archie Battersbee's parents? | The Sun

ARCHIE BATTERSBEA was left in a coma after a "freak accident" at home on April 7, 2022.

Meet parents Paul Battersbee and Hollie Dance – who are trying to fight to keep Archie's treatment going as they remain hopeful that he'll recover.

Who are Archie Battersbee's parents?

Archie's parents are Paul Battersbee and Hollie Dance who are both from Southend, Essex.

The pair are fighting to keep their son on life-support after the doctors told them that the treatment should end.

The case went to court to be decided by a judge after doctors argued that parts of Archie's brain are dead and decaying and the "chance of recovery is very low."

Hollie, 46, is hopeful that her son will recover, as she said on Facebook: "Sorry I've been a bit distant.

When talking about what happened to Archie, she told the Echo: "It's a freak accident which resulted in a brain injury and I'm just reliving it constantly.

"To be honest the doctors are saying negative stuff, he's not responding, but we do hold hope.

"I feel he needs a bit of time.

"Obviously we don't know the extent of the injury at the moment so it's impossible to say how he's going to be once he's out."

Hollie found a ligature over his head and thinks that he might have been taking part of an online challenge.

She hopes that her son wakes up, recovers and returns to gymnastics and MMA fighting as she added: "The support really is what's kept me going.

"Everyone's praying for him, he's getting voice messages from his friends and from gymnastics from MMA.

"It feels like the whole of Southend is with him."

Doctors believe that it's "highly likely" that Archie is dead and the treatment should end.

Paul and Hollie disagree and that is why now the case has been taken to court.

Lawyers representing the hospital's governing trust, Barts Health NHS Trust, are asking Mrs Justice Emma Arbuthnot to make a decision on whether Archie should remain under treatment.

The decision is set to be made on Wednesday, June 8.

How is Archie Battersbee doing?

Archie is on life-support at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

He has been in a coma since the accident happened on April 7 and on June 6, a specialist told the court that the 12-year old has a very low chance of recovering as his brain is dying.
