Tragic Aaron Carter might have been saved if his house sitter had allowed a medically-trained couple inside his $800,000 California home, DailyMail.com can reveal exclusively.
But instead the woman refused to let the neighbors inside after she discovered the former child star in his bath.
The couple, Anthony and Amanda Cheval, had rushed over to Carter’s home around 11 am Saturday after hearing a 911 call on their police scanner. Amanda, a registered nurse, grabbed their automated external defibrillator bag and ran across the street from their home in a bid to save him.
‘I heard them call out a 927D – code for a possible dead body – for Aaron Carter’s address.’ Anthony, 45, a corporate safety manager who teaches CPR and also works for a local news agency, told DailyMail.com outside the singer’s house in Lancaster, California.
‘I knocked on the door several times,’ he said. ‘Finally after a few minutes a black female answered the door.’
Neighbors said Carter and his girlfriend, Melanie Martin, would frequently fight, and that he once locked her out of the house

Amanda and Anthony Cheval rushed across the street to Carter’s home after he had heard on his police scanner that a 911 call had been made from the singer’s house
Cheval said she the woman was hysterical and was foaming at both sides of her mouth. He asked her if she needed any help.
‘But the house sitter was screaming: “He’s gone, he’s dead, he’s gone.”
‘She kept screaming that over and over.’
Cheval said he asked her again to let them in. ‘Let us help you, let us try. My wife is a registered nurse, let her help.’
But the house sitter, who he described as ‘hysterical’ refused to allow them to enter, screaming out to them, ‘I can’t let you in.’
‘She locked the front door, and I could hear her running away from the door.’
A few minutes later LA County Sheriff Deputies arrived on the scene, Amanda Cheval, 30, who was waiting out by the sidewalk in front of the Carter house, explained to the cops about the woman who answered the door.
They started banging on the door yelling they were from the sheriff’s department, finally the same woman answered the door but didn’t open it up all of the way, she had her body pushed up against the door still not allowing anyone inside.
‘But the sheriff’s deputies pushed past her and ran inside the house.’
‘Minutes later they exited the house, but not with the same urgent demeanor they had going in.
‘At that point I thought whoever it was inside there is dead.
Then minutes later the local ambulance company arrived at the scene and quickly took out their stretcher and wheeled it to the front door. But a few minutes later they left the house with an empty stretcher.

Cheval said it wasn’t until Carter’s on again off again girlfriend and baby momma Melanie Martin arrived at the house sobbing when he realized it was Aaron Carter inside.
Police referred to the woman as a ‘house sitter.’ Her identity has not been revealed.
Cheval moved into his house across the street from Carter in August. He only had one conversation with him when Carter welcomed him to the neighborhood.
But he said he’s heard and witnessed a year’s worth of chaos in those three months.
‘It’s a great neighborhood we live in, but he was a terrible neighbor.’ Cheval said he personally didn’t have any issues with Carter, but says he was the probably only one who didn’t.
In the three months that Cheval has been Carter’s neighbor he’s witnessed him in verbal altercations with various neighbors and constant fighting with Melanie. ‘Not too long ago the police came out for a burglary call, and it turned out he was fighting with Melanie.’
‘The local police are all too familiar with Carter’s address. ‘From what I’ve seen he was his own worst enemy and brought a lot of these problems on himself.’ Cheval said the police have been out to Carter’s home at least three times since August.
He said the entire neighborhood is sad that Carter died, but ‘on the other hand some neighbors have said they are glad he is no longer around.’
Cheval said he only had one conversation with his famous neighbor. He said it was brief and Carter welcomed him to the area.
But Cheval said most of the neighbors did not have pleasant interactions with him.

Cheval is still puzzled about the house sitter’s action. ‘You need help and someone who has medical training is offering to help you and you are turned away. It just doesn’t make sense,’ he said.
‘I’ve never seen this woman before in my life, Aaron had a few regular people who came by but I have no idea who she is.’
Cheval said the thing that saddened him most about Carter’s death was thinking about his 11-month old son, Prince.
‘His son is going to grow up without a father and that’s heartbreaking.’
Carter was a child star who hit it big in the early 2000s but whose adult life was scarred by drug addiction. His brother Nick was one of the Backstreet Boys.
After Aaron’s death Nick wrote on Instagram: ‘I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.
‘Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.’
Cheval said that when the house sitter answered the door and when he saw her out in the front yard with sheriff’s deputies, she was wearing white pants and a black long sleeve top. When she finally left Carter’s house with police later in the afternoon, sheriff’s deputies were carrying a roller luggage bag and she had changed into red tights and wore a red printed dress with a dark vest.
After she left a sheriff’s deputy carried out a brown paper evidence bag. He’s not sure if her original clothes were in the brown paper bag or if it was something else.
Carter had lived in this seven-bed, four-bath home in the high desert town of Lancaster for the past two years but had been trying to sell it
Carter was found in the bath at the house on Saturday morning. Investigators say he drowned
Just a week before his death Carter tweeted that he was selling his house and that he was beginning a ‘new chapter’
‘It would be strange for someone randomly to change their clothing before going with the police.’
Carter had been trying to sell the 7-bed, 4-bath home that he bought just two years ago for months. He took it off the market briefly in the summer but then listed it again for $829,900 in September, records show. He then reduced the price on October 24 to $799,900.
On Monday, two days after his death it was again taken off the market.
During his two years in the high-desert town of Lancaster, 70 miles north of Los Angeles, he had had dust-ups with several people in the area.
One neighbor who didn’t want to be identified for fear of reprisal from his fans told DailyMail.com: ‘Aaron had problems with several of the neighbors on his street, at least three of them have called police on him.
‘Aaron was just arrogant, he thought he was better than everyone else in the neighborhood. He would brag about how he had better vehicles and his house was larger than most in the area.
There was always commotion coming from the house with Aaron and on-again/off-again girlfriend, Melanie Martin arguing all hours of the day.
‘We saw police out in front of his house every few months,’ said the neighbor.
On several occasions Aaron locked Melanie outside of his house, after a screaming match and she would bang on the door, screaming ‘let me in.’
When Aaron wasn’t fighting with Melanie he would torment his neighbors by blasting his music and opening up his windows. ‘You could hear the music from several houses away.’
One neighbor politely knocked on his door one day and Melanie answered. She was asked if they could turn down the music. Melanie said she would pass along the information to Aaron. Minutes later Aaron banged on the neighbor’s door and began yelling at the neighbor, he called her a ‘c**t and a b***ch.
Another person at the house told Aaron to leave their property. The police were called and Aaron tried to tell the police that the neighbor assaulted him. No arrests were made.

Aaron got into a fight with an older neighbor one day, yelling at him, calling him an ‘old man and to suck his d**k.’
Aaron had a Dalmatian dog that he would hit and yell at constantly. Then one day the dog was gone.
‘Every neighbor has that neighbor you have to deal with, he was that neighbor.
‘I feel bad he left behind his young child. He obviously had his issues and demons. It’s a shame that he died, I wouldn’t wish that on anytime, but I’m glad he’s no longer in our neighborhood.’
Just one week before his death, Carter tweeted that he was selling his home for $800,000, and noting he was looking to begin a ‘new chapter.’
‘Selling my 2nd home,’ Carter wrote on October 29. ‘Real estate has been super good to me. Ready for a new chapter in my 3rd home which I plan on staying to make a beautiful life for my family.’
‘This year has been super tough but I’ve learned so much,’ he added. ‘Thanks for the support everyone.’

Carter was found dead in the bathtub of the house on Saturday after being discovered by his house sitter.
She reportedly ran from the house telling ‘He’s dead! He’s dead!’
Witnesses described a ‘chaotic’ scene at the singer’s house, with police cars, news vans, and people crowding in the streets to see what happened.
Police said Carter drowned, but have not elaborated on how the tragedy happened.
Since January 2020 Carter had an on again, off again relationship with one-time fiancée Martin, who gave birth to Prince on November 22, 2021. He confirmed in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com in August that the two were no longer in a relationship and had ended their romance for good.
However, Martin was visibly upset outside Carter’s house on Saturday, and released a statement calling him her ‘fiancé.’
‘My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it’s going to be a journey to raise a son without a father. Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.’
Earlier this year, Carter filed for custody of their son and a petition for protection against Martin at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Los Angeles County.
In a court filing he accused his ex of ’emotional distress, anguish, shoving, & scratching’, and claimed she used the threat of suicide to abuse him ’emotionally.’
