Panera to give away free bagels for vaccinated customers July 2-4. Here’s how the COVID freebie works

Panera Bread is the latest business to roll out a COVID-19 vaccine freebie.

For three days – from July 2-4 – the chain is giving away free bagels to vaccinated customers at participating locations nationwide. No purchase is required.

“Whether you like your bagel bread-sliced or cut through the middle, or prefer savory Asiago Cheese or sweet Cinnamon Crunch, if you are vaccinated the choice is yours for one free bagel daily during the promotion, while supplies last,” the chain said in a news release. Other bagel flavors are also included.

While Krispy Kreme’s popular free doughnut offer requires flashing proof that you received the vaccine to get the daily freebie, Panera told USA TODAY this offer will be based on the honor system.

Panera says the freebie is only available in cafes and online orders along with and third-party sites are excluded. According to the offer’s fine print, spreads are not included and other restrictions may apply.

Panera’s offer comes amid a growing number of incentives offered by states, health departments and businesses throughout the nation to convince Americans to get vaccinated, which is considered vital to ending the pandemic.

Instacart’s “Get Vaxxed For Snacks” sweepstakes, which is giving away free gift cards, ends June 30. Both CVS Health and Kroger have vaccine sweepstakes running through July 10.
