RSK Announces RLogin, Its Revolutionary Digital ID Solution

RSK has released a new digital ID solution called rLogin that will be part of the RSK Infrastructure Framework (RIF) tools that are already available. The new self sovereign identity solution is compatible with two of the largest cryptocurrency networks in the world: Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).

RSK Launches its Digital ID Solution: rLogin

The new rLogin digital ID solution can be used with different platforms and it helps users authenticate and store data, use digital currency wallets and also validate their credentials on different Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 applications.

One of the main benefits of the new solution is related to how users can control and get access to their data. Nowadays, passwords and information is controlled by third-parties on centralized servers. Moreover, all the information that we give to companies is usually shared with other third-parties and hackers could get access to it in an easy way.

As per the official release, applications that work with the rLogin solution would enjoy a wide range of features. Some of these features include the following:

  • A Front-end that interacts with blockchains and wallets
  • A Back-end authentication process that recognizes users by wallet addresses (this is called Decentralized Identifier or DID)
  • A cloud storage solution that allows users to access their data
  • Added compatibility with W2C SSI standards – this includes DID and also Verifiable Credentials (VC)

This is the first time that both Bitcoin and Ethereum have a decentralized solution that includes self-sovereign decentralized identities. Some of the wallets that are currently supporting rLogin include Nifty, Metamask, Liquality and WalletConnect.

RIF Identity Product Owner, Milton Berman, mentioned:

“rLogin is a huge step towards achieving Self-Sovereign Identity while simplifying the way to interact with the blockchain. We are very excited to see these integrations giving users the flexibility to control their own data and move their crypto assets and reputation across platforms.”

It is worth mentioning that the rLogin solution is free and open-source. Consequently, developers can start integrating this solution into their applications. The information required for companies and developers is available on GitHub. RSK also offers a Developers Portal that allows interested individuals to get supporting documentation and receive assistance from the Identity Team.

The rLogin implementation comes after the introduction of Meta-Transactions that helped increase Bitcoin decentralized finance (DeFi) adoption in the cryptocurrency market. Developers implemented the RIF Enveloping solution for third-parties to subsidize transaction fees for users.
