Tiffany Trump Slips Engagement Announcement Into Farewell Post as Dad Prepares for Post-White House Life

Tiffany Trump is engaged.

In a farewell message from the White House on Tuesday, the younger daughter of President Donald Trump, 27, announced her engagement to Michael Boulos, a day before her father will leave office.

It's a turbulent transition time for the family, with the president facing an unprecedented second impeachment trial and record low approval ratings following the deadly U.S. Capitol riots by Trump supporters.

The president and his kids are looking at a next chapter in Florida, where he owns the Mar-a-Lago Club, sources have told PEOPLE.

In her farewell on Tuesday, Tiffany spoke of gratitude.

"It has been an honor to celebrate many milestones, historic occasions and create memories with my family here at the White House, none more special than my engagement to my amazing fiancé Michael! Feeling blessed and excited for the next chapter!" she wrote on social media along with a photo of her and fiancé Boulos smiling together near the White House Rose Garden.

"Got engaged to the love of my life! Looking forward to our next chapter together," Boulos wrote in his own engagement announcement post on Instagram.

Boulos is the son of a wealthy family with businesses in Nigeria.

Tiffany's mom, Marla Maples, who largely raised her in California after splitting from President Trump in the '90s, congratulated the couple on her Instagram Story Tuesday. "Celebrating God's endless blessing of love. May God's blessings & love always light your path. Love you so much, mom," Maples wrote, reposting her daughter's engagement announcement.

Maples began her a relationship with Trump while he was still married to his first wife, Ivana, whom the businessman divorced in December 1991. Maples and Trump wed in 1993 but separated in May 1997. They finalized their divorce in June 1999.

Tiffany and Michael made their relationship official on Instagram in December 2017. At the time, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple first met over the summer in Mykonos, Greece, at Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club, which is the subject of the MTV reality show with the selfsame title, Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club.

As her father faces the final day of his presidency and the start of his next impeachment trial — in the shadow of the deadly pro-Trump insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6 — the Georgetown Law graduate and Boulos have been spending time in Florida and are "actively looking for a house in Miami Beach," one local source told PEOPLE last week, noting then that the first daughter "has been in Miami Beach for five or six days."

A couple of days before the beginning of her father's impeachment in the House of Representatives, Tiffany and her now-fiancé stopped by the SAAM Lounge at SLS Brickell in Miami. She was spotted elsewhere around the Miami area, too.

"I saw Tiffany and her friends laughing and eating, and they seemed to have fun," said one source. Though another told PEOPLE: "Tiffany was guarded and concerned for her privacy."
