Empire's Bryshere Gray jailed for strangling wife until she fainted during assault that left her 'covered in injuries'

EMPIRE actor Bryshere Gray will spend 10 days in jail after strangling his wife for "hours" until she fainted in an attack that left her "covered in injuries."

Gray pleaded guilty to domestic assault charges after he was arrested in July 2020 over the disturbing incident, which saw the actor barricade himself in the couple's home.

The victim was forced to flag down a passerby, saying that she had been assaulted for hours by her husband in their Goodyear, Arizona home.

She was driven to the police station, where she identified the 27-year-old actor as her husband.

His wife has multiple visible injuries and said she had been strangled to the point of losing consciousness.

Gray locked himself in his home the night before his arrest.

He eventually surrendered around 7am the next morning, on July 14.

After serving 10 days in county jail, Gray will remain on probation for three years.

During those three years, he will have to submit to drug and alcohol testing and pay restitution to his wife.

He will also reportedly enroll in a domestic violence offender treatment program.

He will not be able to possess any kind of firearm and will need written permission from a probation officer to interact with anyone with a criminal record.

Gray is not the only Empire actor with a criminal record.

The Fox show was eventually canceled after Gray's co-star, Jussie Smollett, was charged with making a false hate crime report.

Smollett did not return for the show's sixth and final season after the incident in which that actor claimed he had been attacked by two men.
