MEGHAN MCCAIN: Paltrow is selling pseudo-science and starvation diets

MEGHAN MCCAIN: Take one look at washed-out phony health guru Gwynnie and ask: Is it any wonder America is sick of her pseudo-scientific wellness and starvation diets?

Gwyneth Paltrow is an academy award-winning actress turned health guru, who has never gone to medical school, nor has any medical training whatsoever.

Yet, she’s the face and founder of the multi-million-dollar so-called wellness and lifestyle brand, Goop.

Let’s be clear – if what she’s selling is wellness, then I want no part of it.

Gwyneth sat down with Dr. Will Cole for a recent episode of his podcast ‘The Art of Being Well.’ It is not the kind of podcast I would normally listen to, but I am not the type of person who goes on yoga retreats or does sound baths.

So, imagine my surprise when I learned that Dr. Cole is not a doctor in the traditional sense, as in, he never went to medical school. In reality, he’s as much a doctor as Dr. Jill Biden.

Dr. Cole received his doctorate from Southern California University of Health Sciences. Their programs include chiropractics, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. Oh good!

To his credit, Dr. Cole clearly states on his website, ‘I do not practice medicine and do not diagnose or treat diseases or medical conditions.’

It’s an important disclaimer. And it’s a bit of an explanation for why someone, who calls themselves a doctor, would sit and nod as Paltrow droned on about her completely absurd and disturbing personal ‘wellness’ routine.

Bear with me here because her ‘routine’ reads more like the daily activities schedule of a cult. In fact, she even joked that she’s a ‘full disciple of Dr. Will Cole.’ Ok, now it’s getting really creepy.

Let’s be clear – if what she’s selling is wellness, then I want no part of it.

So here, we go… a day in the life of Gwyneth Paltrow:

– She wakes up meditates and eats something that won’t ‘spike’ her blood sugar – like coffee, celery juice and lemon water.

– Then Gwyneth does an hour of ‘movement’ – either a walk, palates, or the notoriously rigorous Tracy Anderson workout.

– This is followed by dry brushing. (I had exactly zero idea what this was, as the only thing I have ever dry brushed is a horse, but apparently, it’s for skin exfoliation)

– Next comes a 30-minute infrared sauna session.

– Her first meal of the day is at noon, and it is green soup or bone broth ‘a lot of the days’.

– She eats an early dinner of ‘lots of vegetables,’ fish or ‘birds’ to fit into her ‘paleo’ diet. (She’ll sneak in a sweet potato or cassava.)

– Paltrow ends her day with a ‘nice intermittent fast,’ meaning she doesn’t eat again until noon the next day.

This sounds horrific.

I know this is nothing new for Paltrow. We’ve heard her wacky, elitist commentary about food before.

She once lamented that she ‘broke down and ate bread’ during the COVID pandemic while many Americans were struggling to buy groceries. And she claimed she would rather ‘smoke crack’ than eat cheese out of a can. Interestingly, she admitted to smoking cigarettes and doing cocaine in the past, so you make sense of that one.

But for someone as rich and famous as Gwyneth Paltrow, her life sounds like a living hell. Nothing about her day sounds nourishing or fulfilling. The laser focus on ‘wellness’ seems obsessive and, quite frankly, unwell.

‘My body is not a natural detoxer,’ she tells Cole.

I don’t know what she could possibly be detoxing from. Bone broth?

‘I’m still dealing with some mold, though it’s probably pretty good by now,’ she mused to Cole. ‘It’s in the past,’ he reassurers her.

I thought kidneys were for detoxing, but what do I know.

Here’s what else Paltrow does – brace yourself – rectal ozone therapy.

‘It’s pretty weird. But it’s been very helpful,’ she says.

Gwyneth does an hour of ‘movement’ – either a walk, palates, or the notoriously rigorous Tracy Anderson (above, right) workout.

This is followed by dry brushing. (I had exactly zero idea what this was, as the only thing I have ever dry brushed is a horse, but apparently, it’s for skin exfoliation). Next comes a 30-minute infrared sauna session.

Yes, it.

According to the Cleveland Clinic ‘rectal ozone therapy’ is ‘unregulated and may do more harm than good.’ In 2019, the FDA issued a warning against the practice, as there’s no evidence that it provides any benefit.

And oh yeah, Paltrow does the entire interview hooked up to an intravenous drip and waxes poetic about the different kinds of IV bags she prefers.

We’re informed she’s on a ‘bag of good old-fashioned vitamins.’ You know what else is a good source of vitamins? Food.

Hey, knock yourself out, Gwyneth. You do you. If you want to eat one real meal a day and blow things up your butt – be my guest.

But the problem is that Paltrow is not just living her best life – she’s broadcasting it out to the world and selling it on her website.

This is not the first time; Paltrow has been linked to disturbing health claims.

Goop sold quartz eggs to maintain vaginal health, for which the company agreed to pay $145,000 in civil penalties when it was determined the claims were ‘unsubstantiated.’ Other products included ‘energy sticker’ spray to shield users from harm. I mean – this is really crazy stuff.

Paltrow may not be a natural detoxer, but she’s no ‘wellness’ expert either. She’s a businesswoman selling pseudo-science and starvation diets to American women. Her grift shrouded in the veil of ‘wellness’ but it is high time she is called out for selling snake oil.

This interview raised a lot of eyebrows, because there is a growing awareness of eating disorders in American culture. Paltrow is justifiably being torn apart by commentators, doctors, and nutritionists alike for promoting a lifestyle that doesn’t provide enough calories to maintain a healthy diet.

And oh yeah, Paltrow does the entire interview hooked up to an intravenous drip and waxes poetic about the different kinds of IV bags she prefers.

She has become an icon of sorts for ‘almond moms,’ a slang term for a wealthy, middle-aged women, who don’t eat real meals and instead snack all day on almonds and health bars.

You know the type, we all do.

Even more uncomfortably, if you watch the video of this, Gwyneth looks…. bad, tired, haggard, and much older than her 50 years.

I rarely speak about other women’s appearances but since she’s putting herself out there, let’s talk about it. The women I admire in ‘wellness’ aren’t hooked up to an IV bag.

No wonder there is an Ozempic craze sweeping the nation and ‘heroic chic’ thinness is back on the fashion runways. This ‘wellness’ trend is making us sick. And Gwyneth Paltrow is part of the problem.
