Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are 'desperate to be on the front pages at every opportunity', blasts royal author

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are "desperate to be on the front pages at every opportunity", a royal author has blasted.

Robert Jobson, who was friends with Princess Diana and has penned books on Philip and Charles, hit out at the "woke" couple after they released a wordy statement on Afghanistan.

The pair told fans they were "speechless" over the horror – but went on to detail their thoughts in a 218-word document.

In an interview with GB News, Mr Jobson called the Sussexes' reaction "nonsense".

"My feeling on this is that this is the couple that wanted their privacy, they craved their privacy," he said.

"They are desperate to be on the front pages at every opportunity.

"How they can say they are experiencing how the world is on the edge from their £15million mansion in the heart of California, I really don't know.

"I do think that when Prince Harry was a member of the Royal Family, he had a voice to help people.

"It's a shame he's not got that voice at the moment to really get some action going.

"Some of our comrades have come home from Afghanistan and are really going through a mental crises.

"He was a person who could galvanise those people."

It comes as:

  • The Sussexes yesterday reignited their feud with the royals as they took a savage swipe at the Queen
  • The pair are reportedly not impressed with the way the Palace dealt with their explosive allegations on Oprah
  • They believe Her Majesty did not take 'full ownership' of the issues raised, according to People magazine
  • A new chapter of Finding Freedom says the couple were upset with the Queen's statement after they made allegations of racism
  • Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand quote a source who said: "Months later and little accountability has been taken… How can you move forward with that?"

In their statement, Harry and Meghan said they're "heartbroken" at the Taliban's takeover – but failed to mention Joe Biden at all.

The president is facing fury from all quarters over his decision to withdraw US troops.

Instead, the Duke and Duchess described the world as "exceptionally fragile" and urged everyone to prove their "global humanity".

But Mr Jobson said: "This sort of guff doesn't mean anything.

"It's more woke nonsense from Princess Meghan and Prince Harry that nobody's actually listening to.

'SUSSEXES DIDN'T GET OBAMA INVITE'

"They never got the invite to the Obama party and they're desperate to get on the front page."

Harry's biographer Angela Levin has also blasted the couple for their statement.

She told Sun Online: "Who do they think they are?"

"It's as if we are all small children and now they are going to look after us," she said.

"It's meaningless – completely meaningless."

Meanwhile, responding to a tweet that read: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle break silence on Afghanistan to say they are 'speechless'”, Piers Morgan quipped: "If only they were."

It's more woke nonsense from Princess Meghan and Prince Harry that nobody's actually listening to

TalkRADIO presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer said: "Thank god 'speechless' Harry and Meghan have spoken on the terrible state of the world, so now we all know what we are supposed to feel, say and do.

"We’d never have known if it weren’t for them being so… y’know… speechless."

The Taliban managed to seize power in Afghanistan two weeks before the US was set to complete its troop withdrawal after a costly two-decade war.

Thousands have fled their homes and are waiting to be airlifted from Kabul airport, with British and US troops deployed to the region to assist with evacuation efforts.
