We live next to Meghan Markle’s favourite hangout… celebs clog our roads with traffic chaos – it's a nightmare | The Sun

MEGHAN Markle's exclusive hen-party spot has been slammed by nearby residents for making their lives hell.

Soho Farmhouse was slated by locals who claim the exclusive members club causes constant traffic chaos and noise pollution.

The luxurious venue, in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, has previously welcomed Eddie Redmayne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, James Corden, Simon Pegg, Tom Cruise and Cara Delevingne among many other A-listers.

Meghan Markle enjoyed a private stay at the Cotswolds retreat – where rates start from nearly £400 per night – for her hen-do before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

Made in Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh, 33, was among guests invited to the event, alongside fashion designer Misha Nonoo and fashion PR Violet von Westenholz — both said to have introduced Meg and Harry.

A standard membership fee for Soho Farmhouse can set you back £1,300 a year.

That is, if you are lucky enough to secure your name on the members list after a vigorous application process.

SO-NO

But it is the well-heeled clientele that are infuriating locals who complain they are clogging up country lanes with their flash motors and causing constant noise pollution.

Even David and Victoria Beckham, who live near the venue, have been rumoured to resent the alleged never-ending disruption and planning to sell their £12 million barn conversion.

In particular, a decision to expand an overflow carpark nearby the site has sparked outrage among locals.

One furious man, who didn’t want to bet named, said: “I’m afraid I don’t have a great deal of sympathy for the Beckhams.

“They can afford to sell up and move to new pastures but for the rest of us who have to live around here that’s not an option.

“There are many of use who feel that Soho Farmhouse has become a bit of Frankenstein monster – it’s so successful that it has outgrown the infrastructure around here.

“There was a planning decision last year to allow a 128-place overflow car park not far from the Beckham’s place and that was Soho’s attempt to alleviate the problem.

There are many of use who feel that Soho Farmhouse has become a bit of Frankenstein monster.

“But that hasn’t really helped. You only have to come up here on Fridays or Monday mornings to see the amount of traffic coming up a single lane with only a few passing places to see the extent of the problem.”

Another desperate resident added: “The single-track road going down to Soho Farmhouse from the main road must be one of the busiest lanes in Oxfordshire.

“At peak times there can be as many 20 cars going up and down the lane – so I’m not surprised that the Beckham’s have had enough.”

PASSING THE BECKS

Victoria and David are alleged said to be sick and tired of the chaos caused by Soho Farmhouse and are looking for a way out.

The family current own a sprawling estate complete with a sauna, safari tent and football pitch.

A source close to the couple said: “David and Victoria adore their barn and absolutely love Great Tew, but traffic noise has made it difficult to live there now.

“They love going to the Cotswolds and they also enjoy spending time at Soho Farmhouse, but they think it’s time to find another property to spend their weekends in, just not too far away.

“It’s such a shame — so much love has gone into that house and they got it just how they wanted it.”

CELEBRITY BOLT HOLE

But potential clashes with locals are yet to keep guests away from the luxury farm house – part of the Soho House chain which also has branches in London, New York and Paris.

Since it opened in 2015, the exclusive location has been the must-visit bolt-hole of A-listers, influencers and reality stars.
