It’s always a nerve-racking time waiting to hear how you did at an interview.
But one would-be policeman destroyed his chances of a job… after ringing 999 to find out how his application was getting along.
The blundering wannabe PC lost out on the £21,000-a-year job after his emergency call was reported to senior officers.
Chief Inspector Mark Williams, of North Wales Police, said: ‘He clearly was not cut out for the job.
‘There was absolutely no excuse for a prospective police officer to call the emergency number to check on his job application.’
His phone call was one of several examples of time-wasting cases revealed by the force.

Other calls were a woman who dialled 999 asking for help to move her sofa after it became jammed in her hallway – and another woman who asked for a lift home when she couldn’t get a cab.
Mr Williams said: ‘Nuisance calls are annoying but there are occasions when people make genuine mistakes.
‘What might be an emergency for some people might not be for somebody else and I would say use us if you need to, but we do get some really ridiculous calls.’
Force Control room manager Paul Shea said: ‘Unfortunately, we still get too many silly calls like the one from the lady who got the couch stuck in the hall.
‘Another call that sticks in the memory was the one from the lady with the spider on the bed. She was scared and wanted a police officer to come to move the spider. They’re just not policing matters.’
