Pizza deals for Pi Day: Save Sunday plus earn free pizza with Domino’s, Pizza Hut rewards programs

It’s not irrational to find pizza pies for $3.14 this Sunday.

March 14 is Pi Day, the annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi), which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The trillion-digit ratio is rounded to 3.14.

Albert Einstein was born on Pi Day and noted astrophysicist Stephen Hawking died on the made-up holiday in 2018.

But you don’t have to be a math scholar to be acutely aware that Pi Day equals deals on circular food, including pies and pastries. Last year’s food holiday was slightly curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic, which happened as parts of the country were locking down.

Back at Taco Bell: Quesalupa and Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes now available

COVID vaccine: CVS expands COVID-19 vaccine to 12 more states including Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Nevada

However, unlike other big food deal days, Pi Day 2021 isn’t canceled though some of the deals have changed from past years with a few lasting longer than a day.

IHOP canceled its National Pancake Day promotion but flipped the annual event into a monthlong promotion. To get free pancakes throughout the month of April, you need to be part of the MyHOP email club by March 31. Learn more here.

Also canceled are the first day of spring freebies for March 20 including Dairy Queen’s Free Cone Day and Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard annual giveaway.

Pizza has become more of a go-to food during the pandemic, according to a recent survey of 2,044 U.S. adults commissioned by the makers of Hormel Pepperoni and conducted by The Harris Poll. Nearly nine out of 10 Americans said pizza has been the go-to pandemic food with 28% saying they were consuming more pizza during the pandemic than they did before.
