Who was Pembrokeshire murderer John Cooper's wife Pat and did he kill her?

THE Pembrokeshire Murders on ITV has had viewers gripped with its tale of serial killer John Cooper.

The three-part-series portrays real life events and includes the murderer's wife, Pat Cooper.

Who was Pembrokeshire murderer John Cooper's wife Pat?

Pat married Cooper in July 1966.

She previously worked as a seamstress in her early life, however she was badly injured in 1987 in an accident involving a horse leaving her unable to work.

She passed passed away in 2009, and there are no photographs of her.

In the Pembrokeshire Murders Pat is played by actress Caroline Berry.

Did John Cooper murder his wife?

Cooper may have killed four people, but he didn't murder his wife.

Pat died of natural causes in 2009, the same night he was released from prison on parole after serving 11 years for robbery and burglary – before his murder charge.

Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Wilkins previously said that the stress of her husband returning to the home had most likely exacerbated her long-running health conditions.

Journalist Jonathan Hill, who penned the book which The Pembrokeshire Murders is based on, previously spoke about Pat.

He said: “Steve [Wilkins] has wrestled with Pat Cooper all the way through, because he’s very sympathetic to her and her life was a living hell.

“It was an abusive relationship. She stayed with him, but she literally dies the night he comes out of prison. Probably because of the stress of him coming out."

Did they have children?

The couple had two children together, Adrian and Theresa.

Not much is known about their daughter, but their son changed his name to Andrew to distance himself from his evil father.

There is little information about Andrew and what he is up to now.

Writer Nick Stevens met with Cooper’s son, Andrew, before writing the script for The Pembrokeshire Murders.

Speaking to press about the true crime series, he said: “Meeting with Andrew and spending a lot of time with him, delivered an additional storyline not in the book, which I think enriches the eventual drama."

When is The Pembrokeshire Murders next on ITV?

This new drama concludes TONIGHT (January 13, 2021) at 9pm.

The three part series started on Monday January 11, 2021.
